Hi all,
I am trying to configure a DNS server on my Win2KPro machine. The situation is as follows. I am using a special scheme to access the Net. Its name is 'Nightbird', which is provided by my ISP. I will be able to access the Net during 10:00pm to 08:00am and throughout sunday. I wouldnt be able to access websites ourside the intranet of my ISP, that means I am always connected to the network (using Cable Modem) and will be able to access my ISP's mail server and DNS servers. So I want to forward all non-local domains to my ISP's DNS and not to any root servers. So I added the below lines to the named.conf. server 202.88.231.2 { bogus no ; provide-ixfr yes ; request-ixfr yes ; transfer-format many-answers ; edns no ; }; The params were decided only on the basis of my guess. Now I am not able to dig on my localhost for domains like yahoo.com, google.com, ... during the time not allowed for me to access the Net. During the other period its working fine (hope its because of the root servers). I would be thankfull if somebody could help me. Regards Dino |
