The limiting factor here is the dialup connection, not Apache or IIS. You will be able to get content from these servers at the same rate. (However you could use compression with Apache, don't know if you can with IIS, which would improve your performance in a low bandwidth environment.) Richard. |

But do you have more information about Apache compression? I can't seem to find information on the web. For some reason all I'm getting is either archive compression or DUN compression, which I don't believe have anything to do with apache. |

Technically, the maximum "upload" speed (from your server into the Internet) would be max. 33.6KBit/sec. only anyway.... Ralf |

I host my site and e-mail server on dial up and have done for 2-3 years,It used to cutout every 4hours under session limits changing the IP,however now it get about 34 hours session limits which is more friendly as Internet becomes cheaper in the area. It can handle about 2-3 concurrent requests if the pages are small in size like 7 kb or with not so many graphics ect with a possible 5 but can get annoying in time for the request to be processed by the requester. Not recommended for a Mirror server by any chance or serving downloads I mainly use this an an Intranet which happens to be visable for ease of use ect.,however I had to cleanup when the GoggleBot found my /pub/ folder and spread NOT redistribuable software all through google search.lol For instant IP updates for your own Tld doamin do user@bash#dig my e-mail domain |
