Default MySQL after Apache and PHP Installation.

I just rebuilt my Apache2 setup via a "how-to" tutorial which
described how to install it and PHP on Mac OSX. Both apps were
installed via a new folder called "/apache2 on the root level of my
drive called Now I want to install MySQL. I've found a binary
installer, but I don't know if it will install correctly for use with
the Apache and PHP installations. Would I be better off installing
from source, and if so, what adjustments would I have to make to be
sure all three apps work well together? Thank you for any help.
