Hi,
Up until now we've always run apache on Sun machines, but now want to explore what linux may have to offer. But where do I start, are there any clear favourites out there? Suse, RH, etc? Any recommendations as to what's good as a production web-server hardware wise would be very helpful too. Thanks |

I've used fedora(power and security) and ubuntu(debian- for its ease and userbase) with great success, but if you like unix go for freeBSD(userbase, but some say netBSD for those connections under load). In my experience you will end up looking at graphs of net versus free and so on... before you eventually settle on one because you like it. I did try openBSD but I won't tell you how many hairs I lost. |
