My 80 year old parents are quite happy with win98 and the apps they
use. i thought i would 'help out' by installing apache and then adding some other stuff. After installing apache and php , Paintshop Pro v5 and v7 fail with a IPF mfc42.dll error . things that havent worked : ive removed apache and php ( through the control panel) and rebooted and then Ive reinstalled PSP 5 and 7 Ive reinstalled mfc42.dll from the CAB file ( v 4.21.716.0) Ive the latest one ( in c:\...PSP7\ ) and copied mfc42.dll (v6.00.8665.0)to c:\windows\system and rebooted anyone any other ideas there are a load of Apache registry entries still present. Is there an idiot-proof way to remove them all ? Will it help ? |

Be careful on this one and only delete what it will let you AND, most important, only those items that have the pathways to those programs you have removed. click on start ---- run ---- enter registry and click on okay. Then click on edit and search or find. Search for only those entries that have the pathways to the programs you have removed. If it won't let you remove it don't worry about it. Just remove the ones that you can. But be careful, removing of registry items that are needed can get you a paperweight pretty quick. The best thing, though, is to back everything up and format c:. In otherwords, start over with a fresh copy of windows. Or, if you don't wish to format c: then reinstall windows in a different directory and reattach your external probrams. |
