Default LDAP crashes

Running Apache server 2.0.55 on Windows NT. If I load LDAP as follows
in the httpd.conf file:

LoadModule ldap_module modules/util_ldap.so
LoadModule auth_ldap_module modules/mod_auth_ldap.so

the server crashes during shutdown of server and during any attempted
use of ldap for authentication.

No error messages are written into the log. The only visible effect is
the usual Windows popup box ("Referenced memory at "0x00000". Memory
could not be "read" etc.).

Does anyone know why this might happen?

(I installed Apache using the *.msi file, so I don't know what build
options were used. I assume that --with-ldap was used during the build.
Otherwise, why would the ldap modules were bundled? But... Who
knows.)

Thanks
Paul

I'm having the same problem with 2.0.55 on windows server 2003. I'm
using the ldap modules included with the distribution. The only thing
I have noticed from looking at the windows logs is the crash seems to
happen inside of wldap32.dll.

I tried the same setup with httpd 2.0.54 and the server still crashes
in wldap32.dll when I try to authenticate to a directory configured
with AuthLDAP.

Hi,

I've got the same issue too, running a Windows 2003 Server SP1 with
Apache 2.0.55 installed. The fact is that it it used to work with
previous versions of Apache 2.0 without the SP1.

I've been looking around on the newsgroups and it lead to this suggestion :
I've discovered that the mod_auth_ldap module is dependent from the
version of the wldap32.dll running on the machine on which the Apache
binaries where built :
It used to work with wldap32.dll v5.2.3790.0 and it doesn't with
5.2.3790.1830

The solution would be to rebuild the Apache Binaries from sources on a
server running Windows 2003 SP1 having the latest LDAP SDK.

That do you think about it?

If anyone has ever done this, could he make his mod_auth_ldap.so available?

I actually switched to the ldap module from
http://muquit.com/muquit/software/mo...p_apache2.html
and have had no problems with it. There are directions on that page for
installing and configuring.

Great!

I've also thought about it but I escaped without testing as I read

"(compiled with Apache 2.0.47 on Windows 2000 with iPlanet C SDK 5.08
with SSL)
(The DLL may not work with any other Apache other than v2.0.47). "

Thanks,
