Default Apache via XAMPP

I set up an older XAMPP package some time ago with no problems. This package
deal is designed for people like me - a little knowledge but not a guru.
Recently I set one up for someone else (Windows XP) and ran into problems.
LOCALHOST and 127.0.0.1 worked just fine, the test page coming right up. But
no one can access the fellow's site from another computer (I tried him via
his IP) - the PAGE NOT FOUND error coming up. This dude is on DSL running
XP. Is there something obvious I may have overlooked? Oh yes, his port 80 is
selected and is free - no SKYPE or other internet phone service there to hog
it.

Thanks in advance.

Is he behind a router? If so, is it set to forward port 80 correctly? Does
his DSL provider block incoming ports to prevent him running servers? Is
the XP firewall either opened up on port 80, or turned off?

Are you trying to access "localhost" or "127.0.0.1" on the other computers?
Because if you are, you have a lot to learn.

Thank you for the info. On your last question, no. "Localhost" worked fine
from HIS computer. I tried to access him with the IP number he shows on
line, and couldn't do so. Yeah, got tons of stuff to learn, however.

Then check the above stuff. I'm guessing it's his DSL provider blocking
incoming ports, but you never know.
