newbie: Where to untar?

Hi - I'm installing httpd.2.0.54. Where should I untar the tarball?

create a directory, untar the tar file. Take a look at it. If it is
source, build it and follow the installation instructions. If it is
an executable package, it should have some doc to help you decide
where to put it.
