[root@localhost bin]# ./apachectl -version
Server version: Apache/2.0.52 Server built: Jan 26 2005 13:05:12 [root@localhost bin]# dns2go Jan 29 17:23:57 dns2go[7626]: DNS2Go Client v2.0 Starting: run earthly.biz Jan 29 17:23:58 dns2go[7626]: Domain online, External IP=66.163.13 Fedora Core 3 [root@localhost bin]# ping www.earthly.biz PING www.earthly.biz (66.163.130.32) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from velvadsl130032.stellarnet.com (66.163.130.32): icmp_seq=0 ttl=150 time=0.497 ms 64 bytes from velvadsl130032.stellarnet.com (66.163.130.32): icmp_seq=1 ttl=150 time=0.503 ms 64 bytes from velvadsl130032.stellarnet.com (66.163.130.32): icmp_seq=2 ttl=150 time=0.537 ms --- www.earthly.biz ping statistics --- 3 packets transmitted, 3 received, 0% packet loss, time 2000ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 0.497/0.512/0.537/0.025 ms, pipe 2 So why doesn't the index.html at /usr/local/apache/htdocs/index.html or something happen instead the web browser just sort of hangs... I suppose it will time out at some point |

Have you set port forwarding on your router? Software firewall blocking Port 80. is your ISP blocking port 80? try 8080 -- <B0N3H3@D> "I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious." > Have you set port forwarding on your router? > Software firewall blocking Port 80. > is your ISP blocking port 80? try 8080 Yes I was/have been I got it working but I don't know HOW I did it? I started trying a different port, port 82 that didn't work either When I set it back to 80 it seemed like the Linksys responded differently. It warned me with a message about...something to the effect that others could be monitoring this activity/setting. I wasn't expecting any of this to make a difference no and was just going back to the port 80 setting. This routine included restarting the network;httpd checking the linux firewall setting...I was turning it on and off...oh with 80 not forwarded I did make connection but with the linksys itself. So there I was checking that apache was working calling http://localhost then I happened to try earthly.biz and wha la I couldn't believe it the apache default page was staring back at me from the screen. I'm led to believe that maybe it's the linksys web page setup screen access. Could it now be doing what it says it doing sometimes... I've got the most recent firmware installed on it. thanks |

Well it did work last night and I haven't changed a thing now it seems to be a "might" work situation I could call it from my xp box and or my linux box... now it only comes up from my linux box. The /testphp.php test page worked too but not now how could work then not work? |
