Hi All
I am very new at using Apache. I have a dillemma in that I want to host a web server that allows me to show off my portfolio, etc to potential employers, but my ISP has blocked incoming requests to port 80. I am able to configure the server to run on another port (currently 8000) and I can see it fine externally, but I am afraid that employers sitting behind their corporate firewall might have this port number blocked, and will therefore be unable to see my web page. Is this fear justified? The only other option I can think of is to host the server as a HTTPS server, even though I don't care about encrypted sessions, it is just that port 443 should not be blocked by most firewalls. WHat is the easiest way to host a HTTPS site without having to apply for certs, etc. Is it possible? thanks in advance MQ |

Check your T&C and, if there is no mention of blocking things, have port 80 opened, otherwise get a different ISP or put your site in hosting.
