How to serve java pages with Freebsd/Apache?
I'm running FreeBSD 4.10 stable and have java jdk-1.4.2p6_4 working. I
also am running apache 1.3.31_6. I installed tomcat-5.0.28. I have
php5 and native cgi programs working with Apache. I'd like to get java
servlets or jsp pages working next. I've read about various
'connectors' that I'd need. Can someone explain what the procedure is
to serve java pages (servlets or jsp)? Which connector? How do you
configur apache, etc. So far, I haven't found a good explanation of
how to get all of this stuff working together.

thanks,
Roger

Install a Java Application server like tomcat.

Read the documentation.

what if there is CONFLICTING DOCUMENTATION? Eg, I read that I need
OpenJIT in one place but not another. Docs are often incomplete also.
Why don't you write some decent documentation if you know so much.
OpenJIT is 'marked as broken' in the FreeBSD ports.

RTFM is a stupid knee-jerk response.

Then you ask _specific_ question related to where the documentation is
confusing/conflicting. Documentation (especially for products that are
under development) is a moving target.

Never heard of.

When/If I have the time I do it. Problem is that I usually start
cracking down things because I bang my head on it, and I've never
used FreeBSD so it's unlikely that I'm going to do it. Moreover,
when I find out that the documentation is conflicting/incomplete,
usually is because I've already fixed the problem. At that point
I don't remember anymore what I did... and documenting afterward is
reaaaaaally difficult.

Then complaint to whoever mantain that piece of code for FreeBSD.

Your question wasn't much better either.
