Apache 2.0.X and Kerberos authentication

Hi,

I'm currently running Apache 2.0.40 on a Red Hat Linux 9 machine
and need to add Kerberos authentication. Can someone tell me if
I need to add SSL along with mod_auth_kerb? Is it required or just a good
idea?
