Check to make sure you recompiled everything in ports, remove it from kernel and recompile (if possible). 5.4 native code seems to be SMALLER in size than 4.11, maybe the use of more libraries? Also, if using mysql, did you compile with BUILD_OPTIMIZED? Do you have 'sched_yield' messages in /var/log/messages?
