Older versions of amavisd-new use @local_domains_acl (among other
local_domains lookup tables).

Newer versions can use @local_domains_acl in place of @local_domains_maps
because in newer (2.x) versions, the default for @local_domains_maps is:
# @local_domains_maps = (\%local_domains,\@local_domains_acl,\$local_domai ns_re);

You cannot use @local_domains_maps in older versions.

RELEASE_NOTES (amavisd-new-20040701 / amavisd-new-2.0 release notes)

- new configuration variables make it more flexible to specify arbitrary
list of lookup tables. Legacy configuration variables are still available
and are referenced from the default values of @*_maps lists. If these lists
are redefined, legacy variables are not used.
