(I know that I'm asking lots of questions.)
As I've stated in another email, we've changed from RedHat Linux 9 on i386 boxes to Solaris 9 on v210s. On the RH boxes, we were running McAfee from Amavisd-new as the 3rd virus checker (uvscan). We were also running Trophie (TrendMicro) and ClamAV in daemon mode. When we switched to Solaris 9, we discovered that uvscan was taking way too much time to scan for viruses. On the RH boxes, it took somewhere around 300ms to startup and scan. On the Solaris boxes, it is taking 3000ms to startup and scan. Does anyone else see the same results? Is Solaris that much slower (or encumbered) at starting up processes than Linux?
