Or am I misunderstanding everything ? Assuming you are using the usual Postfix local delivery agent (LDA), it is documented in man 8 local, search for 'extension' in that man page. I think a non-default user's (sub)mailbox must exist to be used by local(8), although I'm not certain. You might need to add 'alias' to the list in=20 propagate_unmatched_extensions, e.g.: propagate_unmatched_extensions =3D canonical, virtual, alias if you need for .forward and aliases file to keep the extension.
