Default qmail on Linux and vpopmail on Windows?

Hi All,

I want to separate mail daemon process and user mailbox on different
machine and operating system. I use Linux for mail process (qmail) and
Windows for user mailbox (vpopmail) by mount it to Linux machine.

I have tested 2 methods as following;
1. Mount share folder from Windows to Linux machine and then install
vpopmail on that folder.
2. Install vpopmail on Linux machine, mount share folder from Windows
machine and then copy vpopmail from Linux to that folder.

On both cases, it seems to be not working because file owner and
permission was modified and can not change. So qmail does not send
message to each user mailbox.

Please advice too. Any suggestion please let me know.

Thanks for advance,
Nitass

Are you using samba to share the windows space on the linux box?

Not sure why you would need to isntall vpopmail on windows where you
effectively trying to use the space from a windows systems as a storege
space on the linux system, or did I misread what you are attempting to
do? You are also trading off IO to disk to IO via network. Not really
sure what you think you will be gaining.

Thanks for reply. Yes, I mounted the windows space to linux box.

Actually I have 2 qmail servers and want to use the windows machine as
central storage for user mailbox.

As I tested, I got an error message “delivery 16: failure:
link_REALLY_failed”. Could you please advice too?

Thanks,
Nitass
