Max Username Legnth

My apologies if this has been asked before, yet I can not find
an answer anywhere.

What is the max character length of a username that the assign file
or qmail in general can handle?

Also - what is the max number of entries in the assign file.
I currently have 99500 and am growing at about 5k a
month.

I don't think there's a limit.
