SS> It reads: "Purpose: The default host name for envelope recipient SS> addresses that don't contain and at sign (@)." Why, when the purpose is right there ? (Hint: What you've quoted makes no mention of a default mailbox.) SS> The form http://members.iinet.net.au/~remmie/relay/ [...] Not that rubbish again! It's too bad that you expend so much of your energy trying to dissuade people from actually asking questions in this news group. Be a mentor if you have the answers. If you think the questions are below you, don't answer. |

SS> It's too bad that you expend so much of your energy trying
SS> to dissuade people from actually asking questions in this SS> news group. Wrong. Dissuading people from asking frequently asked questions, and encouraging them to do research beforehand, are _good_ things. SS> Be a mentor if you have the answers. When you've been around a bit longer and have perhaps tried giving a bit instead of merely taking all of the time, you'll realise the values of (a) encouraging people to find out answers for themselves by searching what has already been written before posting, (b) discouraging the idea that those of us who know things are here for the sole purpose of freely answering the questions from those who do not (again and again) without attempting in any way to get people to educate themselves, (c) not attacking the people who freely provide you with the complete and detailed answers to your questions. <URL:http://catb.org./~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html#not_losing> |
