Ladies and gentlemen
Since yesterday my e-smith server doesn't seem to work anymore. Since it is a rather old machine the harddisk sometimes get's quite full, and so I decided to delete some mail-queues. Now the mail isn't working anymore. Fetchmail gets the batched mail from the proveder, but it isn't ditributed anymore to the users. When I do "ps -A |grep qmail" I see the following processes: 655? 00.00.00 qmail-send 657? 00.00.00 qmail-lspawn 658? 00.00.00 qmail-rspawn 659? 00.03.33 qmail-clean 3199?00.00.00 qmail-clean Shouldn't there be a qmaild? And what do the quesstion marks mean? Thanks a lot Hans Libbers |

DH> Now the mail isn't working anymore. It's not safe to delete files from the mail queue whilst "qmail" is running. The documentation tells you this. Always read the documentation. <URL:http://qmail.org./top.html#usersoft> |

Thanks a lot, but it doesn't look very much like a simple documentation, more like a quite complicated homepage with lots of tips etcetera. I read the howto, but now I only have a simple question. If you don't want to answer it, that's allright with me, then I'll have to find it out myself, wich is probably the best way. And if you don't know the answer to this problem, just say so, that's also allright. Greetings Hans Libbers |

Nonetheless, it contains the information that you need. The URL that I gave even gave you the right section of the page to look at. DH> I read the howto, but now I only have a simple question. I'm not sure how you expect me or anyone else to respond to a question that you haven't actually asked. |

How do I get qmail running again, obviously.... I've tried everything Icould, like even reinstalling qmail, Nothing works. Sopping the qmail service gives a failure, starting it an ok. so........
