Qmail sends multiple copies of same message

I have seen some posting about this, never resolved.

Frequently (but less than half the time), qmail receives/forwards
many copies (3, 5, even as many as 13) of the same message,
all with the same sent time but with received times separated by
minutes or hours (often with the same interval between each
copy of a given message).

Using qmail with vpopmail and spamassassin on RedHat 9

The members of my association are screaming at me. The
credibility of using our mail list is suffering.

Any hints at how to track down the problem gratefully accepted.

I'd start by looking at the qmail-send logs. If you need help, post
them here along with a copy of the .qmail file(s) of the
recipient(s).

Did you apply the complete patch, I do not remember the link as my nntp host
does not go that far back (was a few months ago)?

That is the all-in-one patch.

I experienced double and in some cases triple messeges being sent around,
including a bunch of bounces.
