Default Rejecting bogus addresses

For years, I've been using a .qmail-default to catch emails to
misspelled addresses at my domains, and forward them to the
most plausible intended recipients, or report them as spam.
The spam load is now so overwhelming that there isn't time in
the day to do that any more.
It's time to reject messages to undefined addresses.

Is there an accepted best practice? Do you just not have
a .qmail-default? (and .qmail-mx-default for your virtual domains)?
Do you generate a bounce message with procmail and formail?
Do you have a favorite program to use as the target of bouncesaying(1)?

TIA

No...different strokes, as they say.

That's one way to do it. Another is to retain the .qmail-*default's
and use something like spamassassin to bitbucket the spam (don't
bother trying to bounce it) and either bounce or manually process the
rest.

I usually let qmail generate the bounces.

Not really.
