Well here goes.. I'll take a beating to get this going.......
I have gone through the Life with Qmail section 2.8 time and again but when I do a qmailctl stat /service/qmail-send alternates between 0 and 1 second up. It seems obvious that send is encountering an error some place but I can't find it. Any help on where/how I might be able to track down this problem to resolve it? Like I said I have gone through the section on start qmail and I did find one error in /service/qmail-smtpd/log and got that up but this has me. Any suggestions on where to look? THANKS. /service/qmail-send: up (pid 22050) 1 seconds /service/qmail-send/log: up (pid 15626) 1073 seconds /service/qmail-smtpd: up (pid 15627) 1073 seconds /service/qmail-smtpd/log: up (pid 15630) 1073 seconds messages in queue: 5 messages in queue but not yet preprocessed: 5 [root@free-4-all root]# qmailctl stat /service/qmail-send: up (pid 22084) 0 seconds /service/qmail-send/log: up (pid 15626) 1074 seconds /service/qmail-smtpd: up (pid 15627) 1074 seconds /service/qmail-smtpd/log: up (pid 15630) 1074 seconds messages in queue: 5 messages in queue but not yet preprocessed: 5 -- Using M2, Opera's revolutionary e-mail client: http://www.opera.com/m2/ |

Have you been through section 2.9? Hi, Thanks for your reply and sorry I took so long to get back. I've been
away from home so I couldn't get back to this problem until now. I ran inst_check and all looked good after a fix on one of the scripts. Left out the #! on the /bin/sh. :-( I did go through 2.9 here is what I see /service/qmail-send: up (pid 15971) 0 seconds /service/qmail-send/log: up (pid 12641) 545 seconds /service/qmail-smtpd: up (pid 12642) 545 seconds /service/qmail-smtpd/log: up (pid 12647) 545 seconds With qmail-send up and down every sec with a new pid each time. I can telnet into 110 and get past entering user postmaster@my_domain but get kicked out at entering my pass my_password. I am using the Maildir and have gone over that as well but I will take a freash look in the am. I am stumped to say the least. Any suggestions on where to go next??? Thanks. LWQ explains how to do this. As I recall, I had this problem on my most recent qmail install on debian. It was because Exim was still installed and had port 25 open. All was ok after I uninstalled Exim. |

nmap shows the port open and I have had opera mail configured to accept
emails to another account. I haven't seen anything specific yet on testing port 25 in LWQ. I'll keep looking. I know I can telent in on 110 but when I do 25 I get a connection it seems or at least I am not rejected..... telnet localhost 25 220 my_domain.net ESMTP Thanks.
