Problem with qmail-scanner1.16

Hello there,
I have a quite frustrating problem right here on my server. Please excuse my
bad english, cause I´m actually from Germany.
I compiled qmail, vpopmail, ezmlm-idx, maildrop, spamassassin etc. step by
step with a howto i found on the web.
I think ist important that I mention that I´m using SuSE Linux 8.1 with
2.4.21-grsec kernel.

When I wanted to configure/install qmail-scanner I got a permission denied
message in the line the f-prot
virus scanner should be executed. I thought nat nothing went wrong, and went
on with my installation process.
I set the permissions correct, as I was told in the HowTo to do. But now,
when I want to send some eMail I got the following
error:

-Qmail-Scanner-1.16:[p15120057105755793142623756] corrupt or unknown F-Prot
scanner error or memory/resource/perms problem - exit status 16777215

Has someone a clue what could have went wrong?
Hope someone sees my fault.

I have also found out this: the problem even starts when compiling
qmail-scanner:
check this:

Continue? ([Y]/N)
y
Hit RETURN to create initial directory structure under /var/spool/qmailscan,
and install qmail-scanner-queue.pl under /var/qmail/bin:
perlscanner: generate new DB file from
/var/spool/qmailscan/quarantine-attachments.txt
perlscanner: total of 9 entries.
sh: line 1: /usr/local/bin/f-prot: Permission denied <<<

I am starting to think that gresec ist making trouble by putting qmail in a
chroot or something else,
can someone bring light into the dark ;)

Can you tell me what you exaclty mean. I just can`t follow your suggestion.

I used the howto you mentioned in your last post, but unfortunatly i get the

Hello Sebastian,
first of all - it works - even on a grsec patched system, and even with
f-prot. I installed it on a Suse system, grsec patched, using f-prot,
clamscan,spamasassin. Take a look at http://www.rootforum.de/ and search
for qmailscanner. I found everything i need there - and its in german. As a
"workaraound" try to install clamav and see if you have the same problems
with it. I also have a nice german howto here, that helped me a lot - feel
free to mail me if you want it.
