Hello all.
I switch my Mailserver from sendmail to qmail. I configured several users on the system. I gave Adresses to the users with Mail Alias. I configured local Domains. The problem is I have 5 Domains and all Mails for every Domain is coming to the user weather it is in a Domain or not. And know the problem comes: There is a info@ for every Domain. And that is what is not working because qmail makes no difference in the Domains. So, when is make a postoffice for info every mail for all infos comes in that postoffice. When make a postoffice for info@domainA and a info@domainB nothing goes. Qmail says that there is no such postoffice. What to do? Any clues? Thanx |

Because you told it they were the same (local). What you need to do is make them virtual. Same as all other accounts. I followed the instructions by telling qmail the domains to local AND to virtual. Here comes more information: The acounts are: info.domainA and info.domainB and so on. The Email-adresses are: info@domainA and info@domainB etc. No problem for sendmail. I don't see in the docs that qmail is able to handle this correctly. *sig* > > > > -- > > Dave Sill Oak Ridge National Lab, Workstation Support > > Author, The qmail Handbook <http://web.infoave.net/~dsill> > > <http://lifewithqmail.org/>: Almost everything you always wanted to know. > > |

If it's in locals, it's local, regardless of what virtualdomains says. -- Dave Sill Oak Ridge National Lab, Workstation Support Author, The qmail Handbook <http://web.infoave.net/~dsill> <http://lifewithqmail.org/>: Almost everything you always wanted to know. |

No problem. Here's an example: Say the domains are a.example.com and b.example.com, and you want the info@ mail to go infoa and infob, respectively. 1) Leave a.example.com and b.example.com out of control/locals. 2) Add a.example.com and b.example.com to control/rcpthosts. 3) Add the following to control/virtualdomains: a.example.com:alias-a b.example.com:alias-b 4) Create ~alias/.qmail-a-info containing: &infoa 5) Create ~alias/.qmail-b-info containing: &infob 6) Send qmail-send a HUP signal. -- Dave Sill Oak Ridge National Lab, Workstation Support Author, The qmail Handbook <http://web.infoave.net/~dsill> <http://lifewithqmail.org/>: Almost everything you always wanted to know. |

FP> I followed the instructions [...]
No you didn't. What FAQ 3.2 tells you to do is not what you claim to actually have done. As I said, read chapter 11 of _The qmail Handbook_ or section 3.4 of _Life With qmail_. FP> But it's not working. <URL:http://perl.plover.com./Questions4.html> |

First of all, thanks very much for your reply! It's helping much better than posts like RTFM or so. Now I followed exactly your instructions, but now none of the accounts receiving mails. Qmail is telling mail that the account does not exists. Strange things happen. greets |
