Now is this or is this not how I want to set it up? He showed > me a place where it is supposed to be in my /home/vpopmail/domains > directory. the /home/vpopmail/domains folder is used when you are using 'vpopmail' to manage email via a virutal domain. If you are not using vpopmail then you don't need to use /home/vpopmail/domains/example.com/user/Maildir to store your email. >But before I created the folder in my home directory it > kept giving me an error saying that it couldn't find the Maildir > directory. Probably because your Maildir is located in your actual home directory as specified by /etc/passwd >Once I created this I stopped getting the error but i have > discovered the other problems I described in the letter before this. > It appears to be going to the wrong Maildir. How do I correct this? it should go in the Maildir specified in your /etc/passwd >I am having a problem with my qmail. When I try to telnet in on port 110 >and try to pop hte box that way it gives me a login failure. Have you set your mailbox password? It's been a while since I've not used vpopmail, but I seem to remember having to either set a separate email password or set qmail up to use the SYSTEM password. Explore that for a while. >When i try to log into sqwebmail it gives me an authentication error. how was sqwebmail compiled? With what authentication modules? >When I set the account up in sylpheed and check the email that way >I don't get an authentication error but I never recieve any email. can you telnet to port 25 and manually generate an email message? If you can, go find in which Maildir the system put the file. Can't find it? What do the logs say? try: 'cat /var/log/qmail/current | tai64nlocal | more' or 'tail -f /var/log/qmail/current | tai64nlocal' 'cat /var/log/qmail/smtpd/current | tai64nlocal | more' or 'tail -f /var/log/qmail/smtpd/current | tai64nlocal' > I have tried to delete and recreate the account but this hasn't worked. > I have qmailadmin installed and that lets me log in. Wait.....isn't vpopmail a prerequisite for qmailadmin? (along with autoresponder, ezmlm, and some other things) Are you using an IMAP server? Which POP3 server are you using? How did you install qmail? Well there's my .02 effort. I hope this at least gives you somewhere to look. -- Richard |
