Delivering 234567@fax.our_company.com to fax.our_company.com

Hi folks,

we have a problem delivering emails send by an authenticated
virtual-mailbox-user from the main mailserver to fax.our_company.com .
The domain used in the virtual domains/mailboxes table is our_company.com .

We also tried giving the email2fax gateway the name fax-our_company.com but
with the same results.

fax.our_company.com is entered into the /etc/hosts file and is available
from the mailserver server via telnet on port 25.

What I do not understand is the answer of postfix:

Why can't postfix resolve it running on the same machine?

As I understand it, fax.our_company.com is also a foreign mailserver to the
main mailserver as mail.web.com or mail.something.org where it would send
outbound mail to as the final destination.

How can we manage that all emails send to an address like
12345@fax.our_company.com are forwarded to fax.our_company.com ?

Try adding $mydomain to $mydestination

Check that fax.our_company.com has an IP within the ranges listed in
$mynetworks

First of all, many thanks for the reply!

This doesn't work because our_company.com is, as I wrote, listed in the
virtual_domains table, so it's not possible to add it to mydestination,
because to mydestination targets the mail is delivered throught the local
delivery agent. But this is not what we want, it should be send using
nexthop.

Any other hints?
