Default postfix 2.0 max number of recipient

hello

first i'm french so sorry for my english

so i have a problem with number of recipient in postfix
it is limited to 1000 recipient, if it's greater, the mail is not send

i've seen the directive smtpd_recipient_limit = xxx in main.cf but it
doesn't work; it seems to work with postfix 2.1 and greater

so does anyone know how i can do to send message with more than 1000
recipient ???

thanks

I'd like to propose to you another approach...

assuming you own your mail server (since you can change the parameters
of postfix), why don't you install a mailing list manager (such as
mailman [1] or majordomo [2]), create an announcements-only mailing
list with the addresses of the 1000+ recipients and let the mailing
list manager take care of the post process ?

I'm currently using mailman and I'm very happy with it.

If, on the other hand, you don't want to do the extra job of installing
the mailing list manager (although an easy task), you can use either
googlegroups or yahoogroups.

i already search in googlegroups and find no response;
concerning majordomo, it's a good idea; i'd look at that if i can't find
any other solution

thanks

No, I meant to create your own googlegroup (or yahoogroup) as an
announcement-only group. Then you can add all the recipients you want
and you are ready to go! Just visit either http://groups.google.com
or http://groups.yahoo.com

I think it's just a matter of personal preference and convenience.
If, for example, you want your company's domain to appear, you must
install your own mailing list manager.

It sounds like the best thing to do would be to just
upgrade the Postfix version.
