If I would have my own postfix server running, and have it connected
to the internet of course, How would I have my server send e-mail on to my account at my provider ? It would need to log in, as computers normally have to. How does postfix do that ? The idea is, to have mail addressed at my own domain (erik@eriksdomain.com) and received on my own server, be sent on to my account at, eg. mail.planet.nl. |

Why do you want to have your E-Mail for your domain on your OWN server sent to an foreign account? > How does postfix do that ? Transport Maps. Look that one up in the Documentary. But I think your provider won't accept the E-Mails. > The idea is, to have mail addressed at my own domain > (erik@eriksdomain.com) and received on my own server, be sent on to my > account at, eg. mail.planet.nl. Think about having your E-Mail completely on your server. Why include your foreign account into this system? Setup a Postfix and an IMAP Server and that's what you need, isn't it? My own server is not as physically secure as the providers' server. Mine could go down and lose all mail... > >> How does postfix do that ? > >Transport Maps. Look that one up in the Documentary. But I think your >provider won't accept the E-Mails. But the providers' server would only accept stuff from me, if I can log into that server, would it not ? And I can send mail from my server machine to the providers' server with the mail command... Must is not be the case, that my machine does some logging in ? Can't imagine that my provider would process mail from anyone... in any case, thanks for your help. Erik |
