Default Problem with postfix and virus configuration ...

Good day,

hope to find some helping hands here.

I got the problem that I would like to run virus scanner for postfix! OK.

My problem is that the couldn't start! And all mails would hang in the quee
befor. That my problem. I don't know how to sove this.

If I start amavis on my SuSE 9.0 system I got this messages...

Starting virus-scanner (amavisd-new):..done
Starting amavis-milter:..failed

and the message.log told me ...

Dec 10 16:46:14 Gandalf amavis-milter: amavis-milter: Unable to bind to
port local:/var/run/amavis/amavis-milter.sock: Address already in use
Dec 10 16:46:14 Gandalf amavis-milter: amavis-milter: Unable to create
listening socket on conn local:/var/run/amavis/amavis-milter.sock

But the file amavis-milter exsist and owner and group lookes for me good.

What is wrong with my config of postfix?

Thanx for any help

bye

Markus

amavis-milter is fo sendmail. You have to configure you amavis to use SMTP.
This should be documented in your amavis.conf.

Hi Gregor,

thanks for your quick response.

Today I had not to much luck with the system! I can't understud way my
system wound like to run with the amavis? I took away this stuf and every
works fine. I checked the amavis with the telnet and it looks to me fine.
But if I tried to get this two things work together ... No chance for me.
You can finde a lot of howto's om the net for this. But my system woldn't
like this anyway. So maybe you got a final hint for me to solve this.

Do you know somewhere to start for a proper system. I cut of the two systems
postfix and amavis inside the main.cfg content_filter='' and the master.cf
where I put away the line they start with smtp-amavis ... and
localhost:10025... So it shuld be easy to go back to the last statusquo.

Can you give me a hand for this. I would be glade if the system is going
save and I can learn something from you in this case.

Bye

Markus
