I have a linux server running exim4 and is on a network of PC's running
email clients. When trying to send a message I'm getting the error "relay not permitted". I understand why this happens but I can't find a setting that works. The documentation has been informative but not helpful to fix the problem. I'm sure this a very common setup and I'm missing something. I have discovered that setting dc_relay_domains='*' does make it work but I'm sure that isn't advisable. The network is behind a router with the typical 192.168.0.* addressing. What is the recomended setup for this arrangement? Any help would be appreciated. |

For relaying control you just need (with sample values): hostlist relay_from_hosts = 127.0.0.1:192.168.10.0/24 To actually deliver the messages, you don't say if you want to use a "smart host" or just deliver, the later is the default configuration, the former is done with something like: smart_route: driver = manualroute transport = remote_smtp route_list = * your-isp-smtp.server.com that part goes in the routers section, Exim will try all the routes in order.
