I am trying to build a remote based application based on WINDOWS SERVER .

Trying to GOOGLE about this confused me more then before .

My questions are :

What connects the remote user to the server based application ?
For example if the application and the remote user reside in 2 remote towns,
what connects the server and the remote terminal ?

What operating system should be used on the remote terminal ?
