Yes, qmail can be configured to handle your domain and send everything
else out. You can not have an email address on the domain be deemed as
external. The domain is either local or not.

Since you are using an outside firm for email, there is no such thing as
internal email as all email gets sent out to the outside provider and
delievered accordingly.

However, by setting up an internal server, you would effectively
performing the work currently being done by your outside firm.
You should determine whether setting up your own server is what you are
looking to do.
There are many solutions available in use with qmail.
www.lifewithqmail.org, www.inter7.com, etc.

you should think ahead on how you will be managing/configuring/setting
up users if you do go with your own internal mail server setup.
