Well, I got it working, but it was a bit different from what you said.
I do have nowhere.mil:bob in the virtualdomains. But it seems that
..qmail-bob-bob in bob's home directory is not what is handling things
for bob@nowhere.mil. It is .qmail-bob.

In the same respect, mike@nowhere.mil is being handled by
~bob/.qmail-mike. Do I have something configured wrong?
