I just heard about dmidecode - cool command!

But I have a question about interpretting its output.

Some of our systems show that their CPU's "current speed" is higher than
their "max speed". We don't overclock our systems. Does this mean that
the vendor we purchased the systems from overclocked them without telling
us?

Or is dmidecode lying to us? Or am I just misinterpretting the output?
