Fiber Network Question
I have a Dell 6024F switch with 24 LC fiber ports and 8- 10/100/1000
copper ports. I am trying to put together a complete fiber network. I
have a device that needs to be converted from a AUI connector at 10 MB.
I can get a transceiver to convert to fiber, but the data rate will
still be 10 MB. I am not a fiber expert, so I am unsure if I can just
plug this 10 MB fiber into the switch and have it work. Don't all the
devices have to run at the same speed since fiber does not auto sense?
The PCs will be running at gigabit speeds. Is another option to convert
the AUI device to RJ45 twisted pair instead and put it in one of the
copper ports on the switch?
Thanks
