Sounds like you don't have name resolution working on your network, and
Windows is falling back to local resource networking systems to figure out
the IP for the name you're trying to connect to. What happens if you
specify the server by IP address?

If that is the problem, you can fix it in different ways:

1. Run a local DNS service.
2. Write hosts files for each machine on your network, giving them
the IP addresses and hostnames for all machines on your network.
3. Only browse using numerical IP addresses.
